Every 2 years the paddocks around Avalon airport – 80km south of Melbourne – are converted into the most high tech cow paddock in the world. This years show – 2011 – was no exception, in fact many regular attendees have said this was the largest and most impressive show held at Avalon so far. The miles of static displays were enough to keep you busy all day but then there was an air show to see as well. Maybe one day at the show isn’t enough..
With billions of dollars worth of military hardware on display this years Air Show was an impressive sight. The Air Show was part birthday celebration for the RAAF, part technology demonstration and one impressive show. With the crowd gathered along the length of the runway, the aircraft felt as though they were within arms reach as the blew down the runway, the blast of the jets punching you in the chest as they passed by.
